Another Day Another Dali by Sandra Orchard & Giveaway

Another Day Another Dali by Sandra Orchard
When a valuable Salvador Dali painting belonging to her grandmother's friend is mysteriously replaced by a forgery, FBI Special Agent Serena Jones is called in to investigate. Serena hopes finding the thief will also mean finally measuring up to Nana's expectations. But when the evidence points to members of the owner's own household, it becomes increasingly clear that Serena won't be winning any popularity contests.

The Dali isn't the only painting that's fallen prey to the forgery-replacing thief, raising the specter of a sophisticated theft ring--one with links to dirty cops, an aspiring young artist, and the unsolved murder of Serena's grandfather.

My Thoughts:
Another Day Another Dali is book 2 in the Serena Jones Mystery series and takes readers back into the life of FBI Special Agent Serena Jones as she investigates an art heist. This is the first book I've read in the series and it's my recommendation that readers pick up book 1 (A Fool and His Monet) to get the introduction they'll need to follow the very large cast of characters in this story-as least that's my assumption. Lots of names and lots of faces kept me guessing who and how everyone was connected. From the beginning I felt very disconnected to the story-maybe because I was coming into these character's lives late or it could be that I never quite figured out what Serena's goal was...find the stolen art or solve the murder of her grandfather?

Along with a mixed motive, it was difficult to discern the love triangle. Two guys both vying for Serena's attention and her having those warm fuzzy feelings but then pushing them aside...but why? Again, the goal was elusive. Because this story is told in first-person point-of-view I was limited to what I could "see"or "know" as the character and so much of the crime-solving information came through exposition or "off-stage". There were a couple of times I was like, "Wait-what happened?" The story quickly wraps up with what felt like a rushed tie-up of all the plot pieces and just when I think I'll figure it out...the story ends with Serena knowing something but me, the reader-I'm left scratching my head until the next book in the series comes out. Frustrated.

I've read Sandra Orchard before and have enjoyed her stories and writing but this is not one of my favorites. If you like mystery, art, and have read A Fool and His Monet you'll enjoy Another Day Another Dali
